Please join us this Wednesday, May 10th!  Rhode Island maker legend Brian Jepson will be our speaker. Brian has recently received a desktop milling machine (a cousin to our beloved 3D printers) and has been working on creating his own machinable wax to use with it and he is going to share this adventure with us.

This event is free and open to the public, hope to see you there!  We’ll kick things off about 7pm.

Ocean State Maker Mill is located at 80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI.  Please use the back parking lot, and enter at the loading dock door at the far end.

Last month we demonstrated how 3D printing could be used in your garden to make useful items or create entire aquaponics setups. This month Mandy Stultz is going to show us how 3D printing can be incorporated with traditional crafts. From fiber arts to water colors, numerous tools can be easily created with your 3D printer to help unleash your craftiness.

This event as always is free and open to the public. We will be meeting in Ocean State Maker Mills new expanded space on the first floor (80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 Unit 113). Come around back near the corner of Middle and Blackstone, and look for the signs on the door near the fire escape to get in. The event will kick off at 7pm on Wednesday April 12th.

Spring is upon us and it’s time to start planning your garden. Like many other areas where 3D printing can help you out, the garden and 3D printing are a great couple. We’ll present a few ways you can help your green thumb grow a bumper crop this season and see if we can find a few more solutions that others haven’t come up with yet.

This event is free and open to everyone just like every month! Ocean State Maker Mill will be our host and the doors will open at 7pm at 80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket. This is a great meeting for first timers and veterans alike.

You have heard us talk about the Moat Boat Paddle Battle before but this Wednesday (February 8th 2017) you will have a chance to see it in person. While we usually run Moat Boat Paddle Battle races at large Maker Faires, we wanted a chance to not only bring it to Rhode Island, we wanted a chance to race ourselves! Many of the core 3DPPVD and Ocean State Maker Mill’s core members have designed their own boats and are ready for a grudge match against each other and you can come see it. Door open at 7pm at Ocean State Maker Mill (park around back in the lot at the corner of Middle and Blackstone then look for our sign on the door in the back of the lot to get in). This event is free and open to everyone. If you have a boat that qualifies with the Moat Boat Paddle Battle Rules, bring it along to race! We will have some kit boats that you can try your hand at too.

It’s a new year, and for many of you hopefully santa was kind and brought you a new 3D printer. If you are new to 3D printing and want some help getting started, or just want to come show off your little wunder factory, join us this Wednesday, January 11th as we enjoy our holiday spoils. We will be meeting at Ocean State Maker Mill (80 Fountain Street, Unit 318, Pawtucket, RI 02860) starting at 7pm. Don’t worry if you are late, we will be going for a while! And don’t worry if you don’t have a new printer to show off, come see what everyone else brought with them or just hang out and chat.

It’s that time of year again!  The weather is cold, the snow has begun to fall, and it’s time for our annual 3DPPVD holiday party. Join us this Wednesday (December 14th) at Ocean State Maker Mill to attend what has become over the last five years our biggest event of the year. There won’t be a speaker this month – instead we will be firing up some of the printers and other digital fabrication equipment to make holiday ornaments. We will have some snacks and refreshments (feel free to bring something but don’t think it’s necessary).

Ocean State Maker Mill is located at 80 Fountain street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 and the doors will open at 7pm. We’ll be partying in the upstairs space, #318.  Don’t worry if you need to come a little late though, we will keep the party going!

For someone interested in getting started in 3D modeling, there are countless packages available to them in today’s world. There are high-end, expensive packages, free easy-to-learn basic tools, even scanner apps for your cell phone. Some of the more intriguing options, though, come from tools that don’t require you to install anything:  browser-based cad tools. Join us tonight, Wednesday November 9th 2016, to learn more about these online tools that can help you design your next project from anywhere. This meeting is free and open to anyone of any skill level. Doors will open at 7pm and we will be around into the evening to answer any 3D printing related questions you might have. As usual we will be meeting at Ocean State Maker Mill (80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860, Unit 318).

Ocean State Maker Mill’s newest member, Yongjae Kim, will join us as speaker for our October monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 12.  Yongjae is Founder and Creative Director of Sharemelon – a design group working within the Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket.

Yongjae’s work features ceramics slipcasting, (in which 3D printed designs are used to help create original artwork).  Yongjae and Sharemelon also do screenprinting, photography and more.

As always, this meeting is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 7pm at 80 Fountain Street, #318, Pawtucket, RI.  For those familiar with both of our workshop areas, we will be meeting in the upstairs space.  Discussion will start about 7:30pm.  Hope to see you there!

The Ocean State Maker Mill team is hard at work preparing for this year’s Moat Boat Paddle Battle. The Moat Boat Paddle Battle is a race of 3D printed, elastic-powered boats that contestants design for competition at Maker Faire and was created by the Ocean State Maker Mill team. Come by this Wednesday (September 14th) to get a sneak peak of our new moats, boats, and plans.

As always this meeting is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 7pm at 80 Fountain Street, Pawtucket, RI. Park around back (corner of Blackstone and Middle) and look for the open entrance and sign. There is no formal presentation this time around so it’s a great time to meet the team and come with questions!

NarrowBase_IMG

This month’s meeting, we’ll feature guest speaker Philip J. Angileri, owner of NarrowBase LLC.  Phil will be expounding on the pros and cons of owning and running a 3D printed business.  Starting NarrowBase from the ground up, Phil is well versed on the topic.

Join us this Wednesday, August 10th 2016, to learn more!  We will be kicking things off at 7pm at Ocean State Maker Mill in our *NEW SPACE* (80 Fountain Street, Back Parking Lot, farthest door on the left, Pawtucket, RI – look for the OSMM sign).

This event is free and open to everyone, veterans and new comers alike.
